What prompted this new arrest?

For an official of the Coordination of press associations (Cap), this would be linked to posts by Pape Alé Niang last weekend, in particular statements targeting the director general of the national police and his family.

The judge of the second cabinet, who issued an arrest warrant, must notify him precisely of the reasons, indicated Maître Moussa Sarr, one of the journalist's lawyers, present in court on Tuesday morning, December 20.

The risk, according to him, of a revocation of the judicial control measure and a return to prison.

However, says the lawyer, he respected the terms of the contract, he did not mention the current investigation.

"

These outings had nothing to do with the case

," he said.

Pape Alé Niang was

first arrested

on November 6, then imprisoned.

He is accused of disseminating military documents, likely to harm national defense.

Documents in particular related to the summons of the opponent Ousmane Sonko to justice in early November.

He is also being sued for spreading false news.
