Sources in the New York Police announced the arrest - Sunday evening - of a woman with a track record of burglaries, when she stole Christmas gifts from the home of the famous American actor and producer Robert De Niro.

New York City police were watching the 30-year-old - known to them for several arrests for burglaries - when they saw her enter "through a basement door with signs of a break-in" into a home in the upscale Upper East Side, he said. A police spokesperson in Manhattan told AFP.

Police said they arrested her "without incident".
