The Argentine government designated the 20th, the day the national team returned home, as a public holiday to commemorate their first World Cup victory in 36 years.

The Argentine government explained the purpose of designating the holiday, saying, "It is a measure for the whole country to express its deep joy for the national team."

The Argentine team, who returned home early today (20th), held a caravan parade with the championship cup from the Football Association training ground near the airport to the Obelisk in Buenos Aires, the capital.

Citizens say they cheered enthusiastically.

When the national team's parade plan was announced, there were many citizens who had been 'waiting all night' since the afternoon of the previous day.
