The Argentine government designated the 20th, the day the national team returned home, as a public holiday to commemorate their first World Cup victory in 36 years.

The Argentine government explained the purpose of designating the holiday, saying, "It is a measure for the whole country to express its deep joy for the national team."



The Argentine team, who returned home early today (20th), held a caravan parade with the championship cup from the Football Association training ground near the airport to the Obelisk in Buenos Aires, the capital.



Citizens say they cheered enthusiastically.
