Pilipson stressed that the current difficult situation in the energy sector is a logical result of the West's anti-Russian sanctions.

European Commission Energy Director-General Ditte Juhl Jørgensen warned in an interview with The Washington Post earlier that the European Union will face bigger challenges this winter than it is now.

Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, noted that Europe had lost Moscow as a major energy supplier.
