While the school holidays have just started, it's time for the French to join their families for the end of year celebrations.

And they are very numerous to have chosen the train, in spite of the strike of the signalmen of the SNCF which disturbs the traffic slightly.

Europe 1 went to Montparnasse station to meet vacationers.

That's it, the school holidays have started and there are people on the roads and in the stations.

Despite slightly disrupted traffic at the SNCF because of the switchmen's strike, many French people take the train this weekend, especially at the Montparnasse station where Europe 1 went.

The worry of train delays

It's always the commotion in the hall, as was already the case on Friday evening.

Already, suitcases are circulating in all directions.

And like Gauthier and his dad Jean-Baptiste, the children are excited as Christmas approaches and their parents are happy to flee the capital.

"We are going to have Christmas at our grandparents'," rejoices the little boy.

"It feels good, it's time to cut. There, everyone is a little tired with work, school. So yes, it will be good for everyone to leave a little", adds dad.

On the platform, all bundled up, travelers scrutinize the display screens.

Adrien is on the lookout for the slightest announcement.

"So for the moment, no delay. We knock on wood," he hopes.

And Sunday, a historic poster to start your vacation off right: France-Argentina, in the final of the Football World Cup.

And for Yohann, the final is played at home.

"I'm going to watch with my family, in the south, in a bar. I hope we'll win," he smiles.

Some have already put on their swimsuits before getting on the train: two stars on their chests for now.

Hoping there will be three when they come back.
