The US fiscal year 2023 is from October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023.

Since October 1, 2022, the two parties have been maintaining the government by passing an interim budget.

On December 14, local time, the House of Representatives passed the temporary appropriations bill, which provided the government with one week of funding, by a vote of 224 to 201.

Nine of the Republicans voted against it.

Republicans would prefer to pass a bill that would fund the government until mid-January, when Republicans take control of the House of Representatives.

House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Rosa DeLauro previously said negotiators had reached an agreement on a spending bill expected to be around $1.65 trillion.

On the 15th local time, the U.S. Senate passed a temporary appropriation bill with 71 votes in favor and 19 votes against to avoid a government shutdown this weekend. The current federal agency appropriation bill will expire on the 16th of this month.

The interim bill would extend federal funding by a week to Dec. 23 to give congressional negotiators time to hammer out a broader deal for a full-year government funding deal with new spending caps.
