• Politics The mayor of Badajoz, from Ciudadanos, the first signing of the PP for the municipal elections

Important move in the internal battle for control of Ciudadanos.

Inés Arrimadas

ruled out this Friday heading the list in which she is working to lead the party, so she will not compete directly with

Edmundo Bal

in the party's primaries, whose nomination period starts in less than ten days.

This was confirmed by the president of the party this Friday after days of silence and several attempts to find the formula with which Bal agreed to renounce his candidacy in favor of a unity list.

As Arrimadas herself explained at a press conference in Congress, she is in charge of preparing and designing a consensus project "among many" in which "protagonism" falls on "other candidates" and "new people" .

"I don't want to head the list; I want to close it," specified Arrimadas, who said he had made this decision "personally" and thinking of the best for the future of Ciudadanos.

A step aside with which the orange leader tries to force the number two of the party to give up and also withdraw his candidacy so that the formation arrives compact at the General Assembly in January, which will be the culmination of the refounding of Ciudadanos .

Days ago, Arrimadas already threatened a similar move by announcing that he would only run to lead the party if Bal did not accept the consensus proposal and went ahead with his candidacy.

Just ten days later, the party leader confirmed that her project is almost ready and that she will reveal it next week, but that he will not be headed by her.

"I would like, and many other people who are forming it, that this list give prominence to people who are candidates and who are going to risk everything in May," clarified the orange leader, who with these words slipped that a good Part of that team will be made up of relevant names from the party in the territories and who will be candidates in the local and regional elections next spring.
