The ProFuturo Observatory was born in 2017, one year after the educational program, to promote debate and critical reflection on the current situation of digital education in the world, focusing on especially complex environments.

This reflection is promoted from a global, multidisciplinary and multilateral approach -taking into account the perspective of students, teachers, center directors, families and other social, educational and institutional agents-.

The Observatory investigates and analyzes approaches, methodologies, initiatives and trends, and consults with the best experts to make visible solutions that allow teachers, boys and girls in vulnerable environments to improve their opportunities to access quality education.

Its analyzes are transformed into publications, written and audiovisual, that give an account of the latest developments that are being prepared in the world of education with the use of technology.

Its objective is to make innovative solutions and good practices visible, putting current issues on the table that serve as an impetus to advance in the fight against the digital divide and the educational divide, gaps that, by the way, far from diminishing, have continued to widen. due to the impact of the pandemic on school systems around the world, which have affected, to a greater extent, those most vulnerable countries.

Thus, for example, the learning poverty rate, which measures the proportion of children who cannot read and understand a simple text at the age of 10, has increased substantially in low- and middle-income countries, from 57% to 70%. , according to data from a recent report published by UNICEF, UNESCO and the World Bank.

renewed portal

The ProFuturo Observatory has recently been renewed to improve the user experience and offer a dynamic portal with the latest educational news, grouped into five main categories: approaches (great concepts and educational theories), XXI competences (what is relevant to teach and learn in the new century), innovative solutions (resources, platforms, content, methodologies...), innovative experiences (inspiring projects and good practices) and trends (disruptive proposals on digital education).

In addition, a new section has been added dedicated to the group of collaborating organizations and experts who, from the Conversations section, contribute to the reflection of the Observatory from their different areas of expertise.

Among them are professionals such as Carmen Salcedo, anthropologist and academic director of Jump Math Spain and Latin America, who explains her vision on the teaching of Mathematics today;

also Folawe Omikunle, director of Teach For Nigeria and one of the hundred most influential young people in the African country, who analyzes the challenges of education in Africa and how to face them;

or Carlos Martínez, an expert in artificial intelligence and data science, who explains how this technology can help to universalize quality education.

The ProFuturo Observatory will continue to face the challenge of identifying, analyzing and managing the knowledge generated around the latest advances in educational innovation, through its 'Conversations' and 'Articles'.

For a quality education for all, that guarantees girls and boys the future they deserve.
