Controversy is brewing at an inn in Japan by hanging a banner with the rising sun flag and 'Long live the Emperor' in line with the visit of Korean guests.

The first search term on OClick is 'a lodging in Japan with the Rising Sun Flag'.

Korean A visited Japan on the 7th after booking an accommodation near Jujo, Tokyo through Airbnb.

There were no major problems until I went to the inn to drop off my luggage in the morning, but when I returned at around 10 pm after finishing my schedule, there was a rising sun flag and a banner reading 'Long live the Emperor'.

Above the front door on the 1st floor, there is also a sign that reads ‘Hoguk Jonhwang’, which means to protect the country and honor the emperor.

Mr. A said, "I was afraid that the landlord would hate Korea or threaten me while sleeping," and moved the accommodation in a hurry.

When Mr. A visited the lodging again the next day and asked about the banner, the owner said that he gave an absurd answer, "I put a flag on it to prevent outsiders from entering."

As the controversy arose, it was reported that Airbnb compensated Mr. A for refund processing.

Netizens commented, "You put up a war criminal flag while you were out... It's clear that you were aiming after knowing you were Korean."

and so on.
