Sober or kitsch, white or colourful: what will be THE Christmas decoration to favor this year?

In the program "Bienfait pour vous", the interior designer Estelle Quilici looks back on the trends of this end of the year, to have a decoration at the forefront of fashion.

The cold settles on France and with it, the spirit of Christmas.

A few days before the end-of-year celebrations and family reunions, the hosts are already thinking about decorating their table and their tree.

Should we bet on color this year, or on the contrary, adopt a style as sober as possible?

Adopt white...

Essential, the 2022 tree will be white, warns the decorator.

"It's really the trend for 2022. The tree has to be white. So typically, that results in a flocked tree, all white, with a frosted effect. It allows you to have a little magic and at the same time , it's quite chic in his living room, as if the snow had just fallen", she underlines.

A trend that will also be found on the Christmas table.

"We'll set up an all-white table, with white crockery, elegant, chic, without too much fuss. We can also afford to hang large white cardboard stars everywhere, bright, and we wrap our gifts while white", notes Estelle Quilici.

... Where to assume its kitsch side

But since the world is not short of a contradiction, the other major decoration trend for this year 2022 will be to bring out its kitsch side.

"There, we will be more on a much more original decoration, more childish and full of colors", she explains at the microphone of Europe 1.

"We are going to be on much more transparent and shiny materials, and sequins. And then, there are also all these little figurines a little inspired by Scandinavian folklore, all these little subjects that you can put on the edge of the window. It can be Santas, but also deer. And so there, the goal is really to play on the accumulation to be in an assumed kitsch", judges the decorator.

And his British side?

Finally, for the most traditional among us, the official colors of Christmas, green and red, are still relevant.

"But there is a little originality this year, it is to have a British touch. So yes, we will be in red and green, but we will be a little more distinguished than kitsch by bringing out the best of what the English fashion", adds Estelle Quilici.

To achieve this, "we multiply the presence of Scottish prints, velvet to create a comfortable side, and we will add plaids, cushions and candles".

Something to add a cozy spirit to your living room when unwrapping gifts on December 25th.
