“The foreman and welder of a construction and technical company were detained, suspected of providing services that do not meet safety requirements, which led to a major fire in a shopping center in Khimki and the death of a person,” the IC said in a statement.
According to the investigation, "pallets with goods ignited from sparks" with the subsequent development of a fire.
The fire occurred on the morning of December 9 in the Mega Khimki shopping center.
The Investigative Committee reported that the fire started due to welding work.
One person died in the fire: the construction of the building fell on the guard and fatally injured him.
