Seven people died and 10 others were injured when the roof of a graduation ceremony hall collapsed during a school graduation ceremony in Bolivia, South America.

According to the Bolivian daily Eldeber on the 12th (local time), on the afternoon of the 10th, heavy rain and hail fell in Santiago de Pacharia, Acacachi, La Paz, a Bolivian mountain village.

At the time, a warehouse in the village was holding a graduation ceremony for the Gualberto Villaroel school, but the weight of the hailstones caused the roof to collapse and hit the crowd.

The sudden collapse killed 7 people.

Two of the dead were workers working for the event, who were trapped in the rubble and were found hours after a search.

17 people were injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Ten of them were seriously injured, authorities said.

The mayor's office at Achakachi wrote on Twitter, "I convey my deep condolences and solidarity to the bereaved family."

The bereaved families are raising suspicions of poor warehouse construction and demanding punishment for those responsible.

Government authorities said, "The warehouse was confirmed to have been built in 2013 with funding for a special project."

The Bolivian highlands are generally drought-prone, but sometimes heavy rains fall in short bursts.

It is known that it is often accompanied by hail, like this time.
