The Israeli army kills a Palestinian girl in the West Bank

A 16-year-old Palestinian girl was killed by Israeli army bullets during a military operation in the city of Jenin in the West Bank, at dawn yesterday, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

And the ministry announced, "The child Jana Magdi Issam Zakarneh (16 years old) was killed after she was hit by a bullet in the head fired by Israeli army soldiers during the storming of the city of Jenin."

The Palestinian Wafa news agency reported that the girl was on the roof of her house in the neighborhood where the Israeli army operation took place, and her body was found after the Israeli soldiers withdrew.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said that three other Palestinians were wounded by Israeli army bullets during the operation.

For its part, the Israeli army said in a statement that it was "aware of reports of the killing of a Palestinian woman, and that the incident is under review," and confirmed the arrest of three people who were being pursued.

More than 40 Palestinians have been killed in the Jenin area during operations of the Israeli forces since the beginning of the year, including children under the age of 12 and journalist Sherine Abu Aqleh.

In addition, yesterday, Israeli gunboats besieged a Palestinian fishing boat at sea in the northern Gaza Strip, and according to the "Shehab" news agency, "the gunboats tried to sink the besieged boat amid sporadic gunfire."
