“The court sentenced Mejidov to five years in a penal colony,” RIA Novosti was told in court.

The second defendant, the ex-general director of the Pleshakov Izberbash Radio Plant PS Firyaz Farmanov, received four years probation.

It was established that in 2012 the defendants entered into a contract with the Ministry of Defense for the supply of radar landing systems and received 108 million rubles in advance.

The ministry never received the system.

The prosecution believes that the defendants initially knew that the plant would not technically be able to fulfill the contract.
