Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said in a tweet on Twitter Friday that he had told European Union Foreign Policy Commissioner Josep Borrell in a phone call that Iran would respond to sanctions and interference in its affairs.

Abdollahian added that, at the same time, Tehran is proceeding on the path of the final step to reach a good, strong and sustainable agreement in the nuclear negotiations.

Talked to @JosepBorrellF following his call. I said, if the US & the E3 think, via pressure, they generate leverage in the negotiations, they are wrong!

We respond to sanctions & interference.

Concurrently, we are on the way to the final stage of a good, strong & durable agreement.

He explained that he had asked Borrell to inform the United States and Europe that they were wrong if they believed that concessions could be obtained in the negotiations by applying pressure, he said.

For his part, Borrell said that he had informed the Iranian foreign minister of the European Union's position calling for an immediate halt to executions and military support to Russia.

Spoke with @Amirabdolahian on several issues including the execution of #MohsenShekari.

Conveyed to him the EU position: immediate stop of executions and repression, respect for fundamental freedoms of Iranian people, and stop military support to Russia.

Borrell also informed the Iranian Foreign Minister of the European Union's position on the need to respect the basic rights of the Iranian people, as he put it.

This comes as Western diplomats said that the European Union is preparing to impose tougher punitive measures on Tehran for "suppressing" the protests.

Regarding European positions on the protests in Iran, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a tweet that Tehran is working based on its internal laws and regulations in line with the protection of people's rights, security and public order.

Its state, which is in the face of civil and peaceful claims, is the most important thing in the face of civil and pacifist claims, in the face of harshness, begging for the right, not in particular the actions of the Islamic Republic #Iran, in its time to implement kosher laws and issue rulings in a full legal manner from the perspective of confronting them with harsh thanks and maintaining public order and security such as shoring and Mardam Iran Show your opinion

In the same tweet, the ministry indicated that governments that resorted to violence against the civil and peaceful demands of their countrymen have no right to criticize Iran's actions, as it put it.
