As Tan Kefei noted, "In recent years, the United States has violated its promises to China regarding the Taiwan issue by selling weapons to the island and sending high-ranking officials there."
He added that this seriously harms the political credibility and international reputation of Washington.
"Taiwan independence is incompatible with peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, and resolving the Taiwan issue is the business of the Chinese people and China's internal affair," Tan Kefei said.
Earlier, the Chinese Foreign Ministry protested the US decision to sell spare parts for fighter jets to Taiwan.
