• Drug trafficking Dismantled a network that introduced cocaine and pink cocaine through Barajas

The

National Police

has dismantled a dangerous gang of Galician drug traffickers, led by a criminal known as

'El Matador'

, who had weapons of war and who had agreed with a Colombian cartel to introduce 2,600 kilograms of cocaine into Spain.

As reported by the Police on Wednesday, in this operation, in which

Colombia and the US

have collaborated , 19 people have been arrested, including 'El Matador'.

This drug trafficker was targeted by the Spanish and Colombian authorities for more than ten years, acting as a link for drug trafficking between the two countries.

Part of the drug -2,000 kilograms- was intercepted in international waters of the Caribbean when it was transported by boat for distribution in Spanish territory, while the rest was hidden in an industrial warehouse in

Siero (Asturias) .

This arsenal consisted of seven assault rifles, a hand grenade, plastic explosive, a rocket launcher, a detonator, and ten silencers.

There were also three handguns, eleven chargers, two electric immobilizers, three bulletproof vests, and more than 1,000 metal cartridges.

MORE EXPECTED SHIPMENTS

The first investigations took place in January of last year when the agents learned of the existence of a criminal organization that, made up of members from different

South American

countries and operating mainly from Colombia, intended to introduce a significant amount of cocaine.

After identifying the members of the plot, the investigators were able to verify that they had traveled to

Madrid

to meet with a well-known Galician drug trafficker, responsible for the distribution of the drug in Spain.

After this meeting, the investigated plan to send two tons of cocaine by the end of July 2022.

Thanks to international cooperation, the boat that was carrying 2,000 kilograms of narcotic substance was seized in international waters close to the

Caribbean

, thus frustrating the criminal purpose of the organization.

Finally, the agents intervened in Siero's ship, where, in addition to the weapons, there were 600 kilograms of cocaine.

The Galician drug trafficker had traveled to this place, in the company of his partner, with the aim of avoiding police attention by simulating a family trip.
