His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, directed the start of the third phase of the health insurance system, which includes the addition of the parents of the citizen employee in the Sharjah government and Sharjah police, and the inclusion of free treatment at the University Hospital for all citizens of Sharjah, from the age of 55 years or older. above.

This came during a meeting of His Highness, yesterday morning, with a number of heads of government departments, in the residence of Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi.

The number of beneficiaries of the third phase of the health insurance system will reach more than 50,000 beneficiaries from the citizens of the Emirate of Sharjah, and comes after the first phase, which included the provision of health insurance for Sharjah government employees, and the second phase, in which free treatment was provided to the elderly at the University Hospital in Sharjah.

The meeting dealt with a number of governmental issues that would develop services and provide means of a decent life, through many social, economic and health initiatives and programmes.

The meeting also discussed human resource policies and providing jobs for citizens of the Emirate of Sharjah, stressing His Highness the priority of his employment file, his direct follow-up to provide greater job opportunities, and the promotion of a decent life for families in Sharjah.

The head of the Sharjah Social Services Department, Afaf Al-Marri, said, through the “Direct Line” program, which is broadcast by the Sharjah Radio and Television Corporation, that the third phase included two categories;

The first is health insurance for the parents and children of citizens working in the government of Sharjah, while the second category is the coverage of health insurance for those over 55 years old at the University Hospital who are citizens of the emirate, whether or not they are beneficiaries of social assistance, and it also includes employees of the Sharjah Police General Command, and it will include That's more than 30,000 people who were previously uninsured.

And she confirmed that work is underway to study the numbers and other details related to insurance, and the inventory is being studied in a deliberate manner through the Sharjah Health Authority, in coordination with government departments in the emirate, where free treatment is available to those over the age of 55, noting that a 50% discount was previously granted. Now, treatment is free.

For his part, Chairman of the Sharjah Health Authority, Dr. Abdulaziz Al Muhairi, said that with regard to the first category, which includes the parents of Sharjah government employees who are citizens, they will be contacted through the "human resources" in the departments in which they work.
