Now the confusion is complete.

After the health ministers of the federal and state governments could not agree on a joint approach to the mask requirement in local transport, Bavaria and Saxony-Anhalt are now going their own way.

There it will soon be up to the passenger whether or not to put on a mouth and nose protector on the tram or bus.

Schleswig-Holstein also wants to lift the mask requirement in local passenger transport by the end of the year.

Already on the question of whether infected people have to isolate themselves at home for five days or not, five countries have pushed ahead, including Bavaria.

Citizens with a corona finding are allowed to go back to the office or shop in the Free State.

Political decisions, not logical ones

In earlier phases of the pandemic, it was in the spirit of federalism and proportionality to issue different strict corona rules in countries and municipalities depending on the infection situation.

This is no longer the case at the transition of the pandemic to an endemic event, as is the case with other respiratory diseases.

The basic immunization of the population is high, the corona numbers have fallen everywhere.

Why then is it mandatory in long-distance traffic until at least April, not on planes for a long time and soon not in local traffic in three countries?

There are no plausible explanations.

These are political decisions, not logical ones.
