The National Police have arrested a 68-year-old man for leaving his wife, who had multiple sclerosis, to die for five days and whom he allegedly

did not attend to after falling on the floor they both share

in the Madrid district of

Puente de Vallecas

, according to reports.

reported police sources.

The fall of the 67-year-old woman took place at the family home on November 29, as the investigations now determine.

Her husband, instead of helping her and calling an ambulance, left her lying on her side without the slightest attention or care.

Five days later, on December 4, she was the one when she called 091

, telling the agents that she had tripped that same day and that she had not helped him before "because she had asked her to."

The health services and agents of the National Police arrived at the place, who found the woman with a very low temperature on the ground, very serious and

in unfortunate hygienic-sanitary conditions

, for which she died.

First, the man was detained for omission of the duty to help, but a day later a Court ordered provisional detention for this individual, stating that he was a murderer in the degree of consummation, inhibiting the case in a Court of Violence against Women.

The arrested man had two previous complaints for ill-treatment and threats, one filed by one of his two adult daughters and the other by the victim herself, who denounced him for threats.

The Government Delegation against gender violence has confirmed this case as

a crime of alleged sexist violence

.

The number of women murdered by gender violence in Spain rises to 40 in 2022, 6 of them in the Community of Madrid.
