The UAE welcomes the political agreement in Sudan

The UAE welcomed the framework political agreement reached by the Sudanese parties to complete the transitional phase, in a way that enhances Sudan's stability and prosperity.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation confirmed in a statement that the agreement establishes steps to ensure the building of a government with civilian leadership, expressing its wishes for success and payment for the Sudanese components in their next journey to complete the transitional phase in Sudan.

The Ministry appreciated the efforts of the members of the tripartite mechanism group, the Quartet, the European Union and the Troika countries to mobilize support for this framework agreement, and the success in building and strengthening consensus among the actors, in order to achieve the aspirations of the brotherly people of Sudan for stability, development and prosperity.

The ministry indicated the UAE's keenness to deepen and expand the horizons of cooperation with Sudan and push it forward in all fields, in order to strengthen the bonds of strong relations that bind our two brotherly countries and peoples.

The ministry affirmed the UAE's keenness on a peaceful and successful political transition in the brotherly Sudan, in a way that enhances its stability and prosperity and brings prosperity, prosperity and development to its people.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, also welcomed the signing of the first agreement between military and civilian leaders in Sudan, expressing his hope that it would "open the way" for the country's transition to civilian authority.

His spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement that Guterres "welcomes the signing of a framework agreement between the civilian political forces and the army in Sudan."

"He hopes this will open the way for a return to a civilian-led transition in the country," he added.

He added that the Secretary-General "calls on all Sudanese parties to work without delay on the next phase of the transitional process to respond to the remaining problems with the aim of reaching a permanent and inclusive political agreement," and reiterated the United Nations' support for "the aspirations of the Sudanese people for democracy, peace and sustainable development."

The Sudanese army and civilian leaders signed an agreement on Monday that paves the way for the formation of a civilian government and an end to a political crisis accompanied by an economic one that afflicts the country.
