One day after a man was shot dead on the street in Frankfurt-Praunheim, the background to the crime is still largely unclear.

However, there is a possible motive: According to information from the FAZ, the perpetrator and the victim had business relationships with each other.

That could have been the trigger for the argument.

As reported, the two men met in Praunheim on Monday evening around 6:30 p.m.

According to reports, the suspect lives there, a 40-year-old man from Azerbaijan.

Finally, he and the 38-year-old later victim got into an argument that then escalated.

The forty-year-old allegedly fired several shots at around 6.40 p.m. at the younger man, who collapsed on the street with serious injuries.

Several passers-by, who apparently had not heard the shots but saw the injured man lying on the ground, rushed over, but then left the scene of the crime on Heerstraße;

possibly because they assumed the forty-year-old would take care of the man.

The police are now looking for these witnesses, a spokesman said on Tuesday.

The thirty-eight-year-old died shortly afterwards from his injuries.

The police, who were alerted by other witnesses, arrested the suspected shooter at the scene of the crime and also secured a firearm.

The investigation has now taken over the homicide.

The suspected shooter was brought before the magistrate on Tuesday.

According to the Frankfurt public prosecutor's office, he has no criminal record.
