Caroline Rosén and Jens Göransson and their one-year-old son Olle live in Ånn between Storlien and Åre.

This spring, Olle will be enrolled in preschool.

They searched for Duved, which is 2.5 kilometers away.

But it's full there, so instead they were offered a place in Mörsil, seven miles from home.

- It's probably a great preschool, but it's just too far away.

It's not possible considering time, money and petrol prices, says Caroline Rosén.

There are departments but no staff

There are many families who are in the same situation.

Frida Dahl, Magnus Larsson and their son Jack, who is 1 1/2 years old, live in Duved.

Here, the municipality has also built two new preschool departments, but they are closed because there is a lack of staff.

So instead, Jack has also been given a place in Mörsil.

- It is completely unreasonable.

It feels hopeless, says Frida Dahl and continues:

- There are many of us who feel that way.

There are even families who have chosen to move away from here because of this.

She would have liked to see the municipality inform parents more about what is happening.

- We know nothing.

But this is not a new phenomenon, it has been a problem for a long time.

Searched for a place in Storlien instead

In Ånn, Caroline and Jens have now applied for a preschool place in Storlien instead.

It is 3.5 miles away, but even there there is a lack of staff, which means that the business is only open certain days of the week.

- I hope that the municipality gets pedagogues to Storlien as well, says Caroline Rosén.

In the video above, she and Frida Dahl tell how this affects the families' everyday life and what they think of the situation.
