It was in February 2021 that two men jumped out of a car next to Gaga's employee who was out with her three dogs for an evening walk.

He was shot in the chest and two of the dogs were kidnapped, one of which ran away and then returned to the injured man.

Investigators in the case do not believe that the thieves knew that the pets belonged to the world star, but that they were only looking for the value of the dogs - which are of the French bulldog breed.

They were returned several days later by an accomplice, who was also charged with the crime.

The victim had to have part of his lung removed due to the gunshot wounds.

He states via social media that he is still healing physically and mentally from the incident.

After reaching an agreement with prosecutors, the shooter was sentenced on Monday to 21 years in prison.

In August, two of his accomplices were sentenced to four and six years in prison, respectively, according to The New York Times.

Released by mistake

The shooter was mistakenly released from prison earlier this year due to a clerical error.

He was found again almost five months later.
