It was on June 14 that the four-year-old boy disappeared from his preschool in central Södertälje and was then found drowned in a pool.

A manslaughter investigation was launched even though it appeared to be nothing more than a tragic accident.

- I mean that the low fence was a known security risk for the defendants.

Despite this, the fence has not been repaired, and no other measures have been taken, such as for example blocking off the area where the fence was low or placing an educator to supervise the fence.

I believe the failure to take safety measures was decisive for the 4-year-old getting to the pool and drowning, says prosecutor Cecilia Tepper.

The prosecutor has demanded that the foundation that owns the properties including the plot must pay a corporate fine of SEK 1.5 million due to specified crimes committed in the exercise of preschool activities.

This is what the former prosecutor said in June about why it is still important to investigate the case:

In August, two people were served with suspicion of crime, but the prosecutor then did not want to comment on their connection to the four-year-old.

Now the prosecutor has been replaced and on Tuesday she decided to press charges.
