On Tuesday, Theodor Engström was sentenced to murder of SKR's psychiatry coordinator Ing-Marie Wieselgren during the Almedal Week this summer, as well as to preparation for terrorist crimes for the murder plans of the Center Party's Annie Lööf.

- I want to point out that there are no winners, only losers.

It is an extremely tragic goal, and then I think above all of Ing-Marie Wieselgren and her family, says Staffan Fredriksson to SVT.

Comparable to lifetime

Fredriksson, on the other hand, does not believe that Theodor Engström was guilty of attempted terrorist crimes, even though Engström admitted certain plans and preparations during the legal process.

- I have to analyze that more carefully and discuss it with my client.

But it is above all about the penalty.

There, I believe, is the biggest gain – that he was sentenced to care and not life imprisonment.

At the same time, closed forensic psychiatric care with a special discharge examination is a fully comparable penalty to life imprisonment, says Fredriksson, and points out that some are incarcerated longer with such a penalty than with life imprisonment.

Can appeal

On Tuesday, Fredriksson was clear that he has no intention of appealing the verdict.

But that may change, if prosecutor Henrik Olin appeals the verdict to the Court of Appeal.

- If he does that, it could mean that we file a joint appeal and demand that the preparation for the terrorist crime be dismissed.
