There was no queue at the "Swedish table" when the Trubchanynov family came to Lviv at the end of March earlier this year.

They had left their farm in Andriivna, just outside Slovyansk, a couple of days earlier.

At the beginning of April, the bus arrived in Uddevalla – the final destination for the journey to Sweden.

- We only had one suitcase with us, we didn't think we would be gone for so long, says Marina Trubchanynova.

"We have a better future here"

Until October, they lived with their Swedish host family just outside Uddevalla, now they have newly moved into one of the municipality's apartments within walking distance to the center.

Marina Trubchanynova says she would like to return to the Ukraine that was before the war.

But she is aware that there is no more.

- Sometimes I miss home, but I realize that my children have a better future here.

SVT Nyheter Väst has been able to follow the Trubchanynov family during the autumn and in the next part with them you will see how the children are doing at school.
