Among the investments, the main highlight was that the Health and Medical Board's budget be increased by 15, and 20 and 25 million respectively in the years 2023-2025, for the care of children and young people's mental health.

Budget shows a deficit

In the proposed budget, the board expects a deficit of 212.9 and 167.8 million kroner in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

- We live in a troubled time, with high inflation and a war in Ukraine that affects the economy.

This means increased pension costs for the next two years, says regional councilor Christina Mattisson (S).

In order to manage the costs, the board has invoked extraordinary reasons, which means an exception to the need for a budget to be balanced.

- It is an extraordinary situation.

It would be unreasonable to make cuts corresponding to those costs in the business.
