The Ministry of Education stresses the promotion of national belonging in private schools

The Ministry of Education stressed the need to adhere to all the conditions and requirements issued in Article (11) of Federal Decree-Law No. (18) of 2020, which aims to consolidate concepts of national identity among students and enhance their national belonging in private schools.

The Ministry added that it and the concerned educational authorities will verify through its oversight bodies the schools’ compliance with these requirements, provided that penalties will be imposed on violating schools as stipulated in Article (28) of Federal Decree-Law No. (18) of 2020 regarding private education.

The Ministry identified nine areas related to national identity in the school environment, most notably commitment to public morals and the values ​​and culture of the UAE, respect for the symbols and sovereignty of the state, hanging official pictures of rulers according to the evidence approved by the emirate to which the school follows, and performing the state's national anthem exclusively during the morning assembly.

They also include raising the flag of the state exclusively in the school according to the controls listed in the guiding guide for using the flag of the UAE, refraining from placing pictures or paintings of personalities or symbols other than the leaders of the state, and the commitment of workers to the general appearance in accordance with the traditions and customs of the state, and the obligation to obtain the necessary approvals for the establishment of extra-curricular activities And student celebrations and events, and ensuring that the curricula or learning resources do not include any violation of the laws of the state or the culture of society and its national values ​​and constants.
