When the restrictions were lifted, there was a low level of immunity in the youngest children.

- There were no children under the age of two who had had RS before, and then there were many who got it at the same time.

It resulted in an early epidemic and very strained in some places, he says.

For adults and older children, an infection with the RS virus usually manifests itself as a common cold.

It is common for a lot of mucus to form, which can be extra stressful for the little ones.

- The smaller the child, the smaller the trachea, and this mucus becomes extra troublesome.
