It has been three months since the fatal accident at Öland's zoo, when 58-year-old guest worker Fanica Gherasim was stabbed to death.

The Swedish Work Environment Authority has carried out two inspections at the park, and at the beginning of November the authority pointed out deficiencies in the accident.

The investigation showed that the park's own procedures were not followed when working at the stables, which meant that Fanica lacked a retreat route from the animals.

The park has stated in its own investigation that all procedures were followed.

"Suspicion of crime"

A document sent from the Work Environment Agency to the police states that "a report of suspected crime will be made".

What the authority's officials suspect may be criminal is confidential.

The authority confirms to SVT that a lawyer at the authority is currently working on taking a position on an indictment, but that no decision has been made.

The Swedish Work Environment Agency therefore does not want to comment.

- The inspector has handed it over to a lawyer who writes a report, probably, says prosecutor Jan Olin at the national unit for environmental and work environment cases, which leads the preliminary investigation.

An indictment can be decisive for the preliminary investigation.

- If they think it is not a work environment violation, it may be difficult for me to pursue the matter further.

If they make a report, it is additional material that I can add as a basis for my decisions, says Jan Olin.

SVT Nyheter Småland has sought the park's owner, Barbro Hägg, and the park's operations manager, Richard Berglund, for a comment.

According to their lawyer, they do not want to comment, as long as a preliminary investigation is underway.
