According to the Congolese authorities, more than 120 people, including 17 children, were killed during the massacre of November 29 in the locality of Kishishe, in the east of the country.

There have been systematic massacres, houses have been burned and there are many people missing
," Congolese government spokesman Patrick Muyaya told RFI on Saturday.
While the previous assessment of
this attack committed in Kishishe
, a town in Rutshuru under M23 control, reported around fifty deaths, it has been revised upwards.

"it is not excluded that this balance sheet increases
", specified Mr. Muyaya.

A war crime

The President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, has asked for the opening of internal and international investigations to establish that this attack is "
a war crime
", according to the spokesman who insists on the need for rapid justice.

Because if justice is not done, we can fear that this will continue in other areas where the M23 and the RDF have set themselves up as leaders,
” he comments.

A three-day national mourning was decreed from Saturday following this massacre which was strongly
condemned by NGOs and the international community.
