The UN Security Council condemns the attack on the Pakistani embassy in Kabul

 The UN Security Council issued a press statement condemning in the "strongest terms" the "terrorist" attack that targeted the Pakistani embassy in Kabul and the head of mission on Friday. The statement called for ensuring the safety of diplomatic and consular premises.

Today, Saturday, the Associated Press of Pakistan quoted the 15-member council unanimously expressing its wishes for a speedy recovery to the security guard who was critically injured in that attack.

The statement added: "The member states of the Security Council called on all concerned parties to respect and ensure the safety and security of the diplomatic and consular buildings and personnel of the member states of the United Nations."

The statement stressed the need to hold accountable the masterminds, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these heinous acts of terrorism.

And the compound of the Pakistani embassy in Kabul was attacked yesterday, Friday, targeting the head of mission, Obaid Rahman Nizamani, and the ambassador was not harmed, but one of the security guards was seriously injured in the attack, according to the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
