Liberal Democratic Party Chairman Hagiuda will visit Taiwan for the first time in 19 years as a member of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party.

Mr. Hagiuda will visit Taiwan for three days starting from the 10th of next week, and will give a lecture on security and other issues at a meeting on the theme of Japan-Taiwan relations to be held in Taipei City.

At the same time, in addition to coordinating a meeting with President Tsai Ing-wen, we plan to meet with people involved in the semiconductor industry.

According to the Liberal Democratic Party, it will be the first visit to Taiwan, which does not have diplomatic relations with Japan, during the tenure of the party's three executives since then-Political Affairs Research Chairman Aso visited in 2003, excluding the days of the opposition party.

While China is increasing its military pressure on Taiwan, through this visit, we will appeal to strengthen cooperation with Taiwan.

In addition, Mr. Hagiuda is known to be close to former Prime Minister Abe, who emphasized relations with Taiwan, and it seems that there is also an aim to show the stance of inheriting Mr. Abe's will.
