The Federal Minister of the Interior's idea that the federal states must show a uniform line with regard to the "last generation" reveals an understanding of federalism that is as strange as it is unfortunately also practiced.
Police law, and therefore preventive detention against climate glue, is a matter for the federal states.
Nor is it the case that criminal law is being circumvented.
No one is arrested just for hanging out on the street.
But if rules are to make sense, the community must respond to the continued violation of norms by an organized group, even after strong admonishment.
Noble long-term goal, alleged selflessness
Therefore, not only a common situation picture makes sense.
It must also continue to be examined to what extent the facts of a criminal organization exist.
The fact that some of the deeds themselves are not particularly difficult or do not appear to be particularly difficult is just as irrelevant as the noble long-term goal that is assumed, as is the alleged selflessness.
What would be the alternative to a proper crackdown?
Leave the glue alone?
Respond to demands?
Isn't the government already trying to do that with a view to climate targets?
Is the issue so overarching that it justifies more violence?
Those who back down let the streets rule – and have learned nothing from history.
