  • Government Pedro Sánchez chooses his former Minister of Justice Juan Carlos Campo as magistrate for the Constitutional Court

The conservative and progressive sectors of the General Council of the Judiciary have declared broken this Friday the conversations held to try to reach a prior agreement on the election of the magistrates of the Constitutional Court ahead of the plenary session on the 22nd.

According to legal sources, the members of the progressive group have informed the conservatives that they will only accept Supreme Court magistrate

José Manuel Bandrés

as their candidate for the TC .

For their part, from the conservative sector it is considered that Bandrés's profile is not suitable for the guarantee court at present - they believe that he is the candidate imposed by

Moncloa

on the progressives - and they demanded that his colleagues consider other candidates.

The progressives have refused to accept this requirement and the plenary session will be held without guarantees that the appointments will be made.

Each vowel may vote for the candidate they want accordingly.
