China News Service, December 1st reported that the Ukrainian embassy in Spain received a mail bomb a few days ago. The mail exploded when it was opened and one person was injured.

After the incident, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba ordered all embassies in Kyiv to "urgently" strengthen security and urged Spain to investigate.

According to reports, Ukrainian ambassador to Spain Poholelsev told the Ukrainian media Europravda that the suspicious mail sent to him was handed over to a staff member of the embassy in charge of security affairs.

"There was a box in the package, which aroused the staff's suspicions, and he decided to take the box outside -- no one was around -- and open it," Pohorelsev said.

"The box was opened and there was a click, he threw the box out and then there was an explosion ... the staff member suffered hand injuries and a concussion despite not holding the box when the explosion occurred."

Pohorelsev said Spanish authorities were doing their best to investigate.

Spanish Foreign Minister Alvarez has spoken with Pohorelsev on the phone to express support.

A spokesperson for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that after the incident, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba had ordered all embassies in Kyiv to "urgently" strengthen security and urged Spain to investigate the attack.

Spanish police also confirmed that hours after the Ukrainian embassy received the mail bomb, an arms company in Zaragoza in the northeast of the country received a similar package.

Spanish police confirmed in a statement on Nov. 30 that they were investigating a possible link between a mail bomb sent to the Ukrainian ambassador in Madrid and a mail bomb sent to the arms company that made the rocket launcher donated to Kyiv.

Rosa Serrano, the government's representative in Zaragoza, said in an interview with SER radio that the two mailers appeared to be from the same sender because the same email address was written on the back of the envelope.

The arms company is Instalaza, maker of the C90 rocket launcher donated by Spain to Ukraine.
