At the Hotel Preciados, a dinner was held in honor of the poet and columnist for EL MUNDO, in the halls of the Hotel Preciados where a gathering of politicians, journalists and columnists gather, which has recovered the splendor of this literary center of the city.

Machado brothers, Ricardo Baroja, Miguel de Unamuno, León Felipe, Rafael Alberti

After the war, the café continued to be the center of social gatherings, and where music and poetry acquired greater relevance.

Especially the 50s, with the "Verses at Midnight", the poetic sessions on Friday nights, in which

would go on stage to read his poems.



In 1980 the original Café Varela disappeared and it was transformed into a seafood restaurant,
