A particularly heavy sentence was pronounced against him.

A 45-year-old man was sentenced on Wednesday in Lorient (Morbihan) to eight years in prison for being the cause of a serious road accident.

He was notably judged for having fatally hit a biker, reports the newspaper

Ouest-France

.

The scene took place last October in the town of Quéven, when the defendant, who had been driving without a license for several months, had just shaken off the police who had noticed his excessive speed.

Around 10 p.m., still at the wheel of his car, he had struck from behind a motorcyclist who was waiting at a red light.

This 49-year-old father died instantly.

After the accident, the man did not stop and even hid all night in a wood, he reported.

Already convicted of a hit-and-run in the past and subject to addictions, the fugitive had been arrested the next day at his home, after his day's work.
