Punitive and correctional institutions in Abu Dhabi have introduced smart screens inside the prisoners' wards, through a system they called "Maeen", which enables prisoners, through one touch, to register all their requests and get acquainted with the daily schedule of activities, meals, medical examination appointments, and others.

Abu Dhabi Police stated that Moeen provides 58 services to inmates, and received 15,080 requests from inmates of penal institutions in its first phase during the past year, and 3,000 inmates benefit from the project, noting that there are 43 employees who have the authority to deal with prisoners' requests, and it will be completed Implementation of the project at the level of penal institutions in Abu Dhabi in 2021.

The Directorate of Punitive and Correctional Institutions in the Community Security Sector participated in the project of self-service devices for inmates “Maeen”. Or obtaining clinic or visit services, calling, and other vital services with one touch, via screens in the inmates’ places and wards.

Abu Dhabi Police stated that prisoners' requests reach the competent employee automatically, and the request is dealt with, appropriate action is taken, and a response is made to the inmate and what has been done in the matter of his request, pointing out that the benefit of the service lies in saving time and effort, speeding up completion, and preserving the rights of inmates.

She explained that the self-service device for inmates of penal and correctional institutions is a smart touch screen that is placed inside the prison wards, and enables the inmate to register all his requests, follow up on the dates of his court sessions and learn about the details of his case, such as case numbers and release date.

The Abu Dhabi Police General Command is considered the first police agency in the Middle East to implement electronic services for inmates of correctional facilities, and there are 84 services operating around the clock, within the framework of its keenness and interest in the field of human rights, which contributes to reducing paper use and reducing the rate of human error.

It is worth noting that the Abu Dhabi Police General Command launched 358 new electronic innovative services for customers, employees, and inmates of penal and correctional facilities, last year, as part of its efforts to transform into a smart government, simplify procedures, and provide the best services in a smart way to customers, through clear, simple and easy procedures.
