Ukraine called today, Wednesday, for "tightening security measures" in all its embassies, after an "employee" in its mission in the Spanish capital, Madrid, was slightly injured, following the explosion of a booby-trapped envelope.

"(Ukrainian Foreign Minister) Dmytro Kuleba has ordered to strengthen the security of all Ukrainian embassies," Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko said on Twitter.

The spokesman added that Coleba "called on the Spanish authorities to urgently investigate this attack."

Earlier, the Spanish police said that an employee of the Ukrainian embassy in Madrid was slightly injured and taken to hospital without anyone's help.

Sources said that investigators are investigating the explosion with the help of forensic experts and members of the intelligence services, and that the area around the embassy was cordoned off.
