Media celebrity
Kim Kardashian
and rapper
Kanye West
have reached a divorce agreement whereby the latter will pay the former $200,000 a month in child support, CNN reported on Tuesday.
Kardashian and West - who has been going by the name Ye
since last year
- will share custody of their four children.
In February 2021, Kardashian formally filed for divorce from the rapper after more than 6 years of marriage in which they became one of the most mediatic couples of the century.
Before announcing their divorce, American tabloids such as People, Page Six and Entertainment Tonight had been reporting on the marital crisis for months, which was exacerbated when the rapper presented a controversial and surreal
presidential campaign
for the 2020 US presidential election.
After that announcement, which materialized in several local and state candidacies without any chance, the rapper starred in a series of erratic and unpredictable behaviors that undermined Kim Kardashian's confidence in the future of the relationship.
The star first spoke of these problems in a televised interview in which he asked for understanding towards West, who suffers from bipolar disorder.
The couple had attended several
therapy
sessions before starting the divorce proceedings.
Kardashian, who married West in 2014, has made it big on reality TV with
'Keeping Up with the Kardashians'
, and is one of the most popular celebrities on social media (she has some 200 million followers on Instagram).
For his part, West is considered one of the most important rappers in history thanks to records like 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' (2010) or 'Yeezus' (2013).
