“European Commissioner Thierry Breton, who is responsible for the implementation of EU digital laws, voiced the threat during a video meeting with Musk on Wednesday,” RIA Novosti quotes.

It is specified that Breton reminded Musk of the need to follow a list of rules with criteria for blocking different users, refusing to "arbitrarily" recover accounts of blocked users, "aggressively" pursuing disinformation, and agreeing to "extensive independent audit" of the platform.

The publication reported that the American businessman was warned about a possible violation of the new EU law on digital services if Twitter does not comply with the rules mentioned.

If the social network violates the law, it will be blocked in the EU or will be fined up to 6% of global turnover.

Earlier, Musk promised to publish documents on the suppression of free speech in the United States.

He also claimed that Apple and Google actually control access to most of the internet.
