Feel your job .. "CNN" informs its employees of ongoing layoffs

An email seen by Reuters showed that the president of CNN, the news network owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, Chris Licht, said in a memo to all employees on Wednesday that layoffs are underway.

According to the memo, Licht said CNN will notify a limited number of individuals, mostly salaried workers, on Wednesday and affected employees on Thursday.

"I know these changes affect our departing colleagues as well as those who remain. We have resources to support you," Licht wrote.

The job cuts were expected, and come at a time when companies are looking to cut costs and reduce headcount in preparation for the economic slowdown.

Licht warned in October that CNN would undergo changes, citing "widespread anxiety over the global economic outlook".

Licht said the changes would involve "people, budgets and projects".

Television operator AMC Networks said on Tuesday it would cut its staff in the United States by 20 percent as it faces industrial pressure and difficult economic conditions.
