After the "End Fossil: Occupy!"

In a public statement last Friday, the Bureau spoke of another meeting with the climate activists on Thursday.

In mid-November, the members of the protest group began occupying a lecture hall in the main building.

The demands included above all more commitment to climate protection.

The TU should publish a current sustainability report and integrate the treatment of climate change even more into the courses.

In addition, the activists campaigned for more transparency in the information on third-party funding.

Even more, the protest group demanded information about Volkswagen's role in the climate crisis and the relationship between the group and the TU.

"End Fossil: Occupy" called on the university to remove the words "Volkswagen" from the name of the university library.

If this is not possible, the contract should not be extended "from the end of the contract period".

VW not involved in any decisions

According to the TU, a contract to use the name with VW has existed since 1999 for an indefinite period.

A spokeswoman for the TU told the FAZ that VW was not involved in any decisions made by the university.

VW AG's contribution to the TU's third-party funds of 204.4 million euros last year amounted to 147,160 euros.

In an interview with the FAZ, a VW spokesman expressed his readiness for critical dialogue.

In the letter from last Friday, the TU responded to the demands of the activists and promised to implement measures by February 28 of next year.
