In the active Long March rocket family, in addition to having a unique escape system, it is also equipped with three "black boxes" for recording key parameters and images.

  Wei Lai, a researcher at the General Design Department of the First Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, said that the "T" series of Chang-2F rockets used for "delivery" are equipped with two "black boxes" like airplanes; The rocket "Y" series has three, of which the third "black box" is installed under the escape tower.

  The escape tower is a huge lightning rod-like device located on the top of the rocket, which mainly protects the safety of astronauts during the period from the launch stage to the ascent stage of the rocket. It is known as the "tower of life".

The "black box" of the rocket is installed here. If something unexpected happens, the "black box" will store the key data of the whole escape process, providing an important basis for the developers to analyze and judge whether the escape system is working normally.

Experts said that due to the extremely high flight reliability and safety of the Chang-2F rocket, this "black box" has so far been useless.

  The other two "black boxes" of the Chang-2F rocket are installed in the fairing and the booster respectively, and are used to store parameters and image data of key actions during the rocket's flight.

  In order to facilitate the search, the rocket "black box" is generally bright red and white. There is also a striking red ribbon hidden in the "black box". When it falls back to the ground and the top cover is opened, the ribbon will float out.

The "black box" can withstand the impact of 20000G, and it will not be damaged even if it is soaked in water. After being dropped, the general appearance will remain intact and will not be broken.

It also adopts dual redundancy design to ensure that stored data will not be lost.
