The rectorate of Lille announced on Tuesday that it had canceled "for safety" an educational outing with migrants from Calais after "threats" on social networks against the organizing teacher, for which he will file a complaint.

This teacher “leads an interdisciplinary educational project, entitled exile and borders” with her Hypokhâgne preparatory class at the Watteau high school in Valenciennes, the rectorate of the Lille academy told AFP.

In this context, she was to take her students on December 2 to the outskirts of a migrant camp in Calais, in particular to the association supporting exiles, “l’Auberge des migrants”.

But this outing, the details of which were communicated on Monday on social networks by the “vigilant parents network”, close to the “Reconquest!

“Triggered an outcry from far-right activists.

Far-right criticism

The departmental delegate of “Reconquest!

“Simon Flahaut notably criticized on Twitter the” ideological fight “of the teacher, of the elected National Rally of Hauts-de-France evoking them a” propaganda for immigration “.

Eric Zemmour also reacted on Twitter, judging the students "instrumentalised by their teacher".

In recent hours, "on social networks in particular, this teacher has received various personal threats, and has been widely defamed", regretted the rectorate to AFP.

“Following the violent reactions” it was “decided, jointly with the establishment, to cancel this educational and pedagogical activity, the security conditions not being met”, indicates the rectorate in a press release.

“The benefit of the civil servant's legal protection was granted to the teacher.

The rector strongly condemns the threats made against her and files a complaint,” he added, adding that the complaint will be filed on Wednesday.
