The Loiret Assize Court on Monday sentenced a 56-year-old man to 15 years in prison for the murder of his stepfather with a gunshot in June 2019 in Nargis (Loiret).

The shooter was found guilty of intentional homicide.

He kept saying that he wanted to "hurt" the victim but not kill her, indicates

The 50-year-old defended himself by saying that he had acted so that his stepfather would stop the violence against his mother, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease and who has since died.

The victim's sister, however, denied any bad behavior by her brother.

The Advocate General, for his part, considered that the intention to kill was clear.

The 65-year-old man was indeed killed with a shotgun blast fired at point-blank range in the chest, he recalled.

The autopsy results also showed that the stepfather had no chance of surviving the shooting.

The accused was sentenced to fifteen years' imprisonment by the Assize Court.
