A senior Russian foreign ministry official said the postponement of talks under the U.S.-Russia nuclear disarmament treaty was due to the U.S.'s reluctance to address Russia's priorities.

Russia, which continues to invade Ukraine, may have been searching for negotiations with the United States in a form other than negotiations based on this treaty, and the focus is on whether negotiations will be resumed in the future.

The United States and Russia had agreed to hold talks in Cairo, Egypt, from the 29th to resume inspections of related facilities based on the nuclear disarmament treaty "New START" between the two countries. He said he had been notified of the postponement.

Regarding this, Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov told reporters on the 29th that it would be difficult to resume talks within the year.

After that, Deputy Minister Ryabkov said about the background to the postponement, "The United States was only obsessed with resuming inspections, but we prioritized other issues. However, the United States did not take Russia's signal." He claimed he was reluctant about Russia's priorities.

The U.S. government said the talks would focus on nuclear disarmament rather than the situation in Ukraine.

However, as Russia, which continues to invade Ukraine, may have been seeking negotiations with the United States in a form other than negotiations based on this treaty, the focus is on whether negotiations will be resumed in the future.
