The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center stated that the Emirates project to explore the moon (Explorer Rashid) will launch on its journey to the surface of the moon, today at 12:39 pm Emirates time, and the explorer mission is the first Emirati and Arab mission to reach the surface of the moon to explore new areas, Previous expeditions did not reach it.

The center indicated that the explorer's journey, from its launch until its arrival on the surface of the moon, will take about five months, while the main exploratory mission of the explorer will take about 14 and a half days (equivalent to a lunar day), then it goes into hibernation for a period of 15 and a half days (equivalent to a lunar day). Lunar night), and then a new mission can be added to the explorer after the hibernation period is over.

Dr. Sarah Al-Muaini, responsible for communication systems and the scientific team on the project, said: “The challenges we faced during the construction of the explorer, the lack of recent missions to the surface of the moon, we can rely on the scientific data that it produced, and build upon it the Emirates project to explore the moon, and to overcome this challenge we carried out a large number of Studies and experiments to understand the nature of the lunar surface and to ensure the effectiveness of the technology on the explorer Rashid ».

She added, "The moment I am waiting for is the time of the first contact between the explorer Rashid and the ground station, and I can describe the mission in one word, which is (inspiration)."

"Her role in the project is to design, analyze and conduct special tests in the thermal control system, to ensure the safety of the devices and their work with high efficiency to counter temperature fluctuations on the surface of the moon," said Reem Al-Muhaisni, thermal systems official in the project, noting that the most important challenges she faced during the mission was understanding the environment. complex thermal extremes on the lunar surface, which have been weathered by simulating these environmental conditions.

She pointed out that the most anticipated moment is the arrival of the first data on the thermal state of the explorer to the ground station, through which the high efficiency of the explorer to confront this environment will be confirmed, describing the project as "Emirati".

And about what the explorer will study on the surface of the moon, the center mentioned six tasks, which are rock science and geology of the moon, plasma on the surface of the moon, dust on the surface of the moon, lunar soil, data for the development of new technologies, and collecting data related to the origin of the solar system and planet Earth.

The center called on the public to follow the launch process, through a live broadcast, starting at 10:30 am Emirates time, via: (

And “SpaceX” and “iSpace” announced the completion of the process of placing the explorer “Rashid”, the first Emirati mission to explore the moon, inside the “Haktor-R” lander and installing it on the “SpaceX Falcon 9” missile, in preparation for the launch of the first Emirati mission to the surface of the moon.

6 tasks for the explorer, Rashid, to study:

■ Petrology and lunar geology.

■ Plasma on the Moon.

■ dust on the surface of the moon.

■ lunar soil.

■ Data for the development of new technologies.

■ Collect data related to the origin of the solar system and planet Earth.
